About Walking the Lakes

My Quest

Striding Edge

My name is Paul Maycock and since a visit in 2005 I have been smitten by the fells of the Lake District. From initial visits of four days a year these have grown into two trips of between five and seven days per annum.

Having gained my confidence and learned the necessary navigational skills I decided to take on

"The Wainwrights".

These are the 214 fells as covered in the seven glorious  little books by the famous fell walker, author and illustrator Alfred Wainwright.

Bearing in mind that I live over three hundred miles away from Cumbria this has become an expensive and time consuming journey.
