This walk would not achieve any summits but turned into quite an epic. Starting in Grasmere we walked along the Easedale Rd heading for Easedale Tarn passing the stunning waterfalls of Sourmilk Gill. We were heading towards Langdale via Belles Knott a route I had wanted to complete after a previous walk up to Easedale Tarn. It looks a challenging route when viewed from Easedale Tarn however, apart from a steep part over polished rock it wasn't to bad.
Upon reaching the ridge, the view of Pavey Ark, Harrison Stickle and Stickle Tarn was magnificent. We were undecided on whether to summit Pavey Ark so instead we walked down to the tarn and then steeply all the way down the Stickle Ghyll path into Langdale.
This was where a slight problem occurred which caused us a longer walk back than necessary. Always take a full selection of maps for your walk, even a 1" overview map will suffice, my 2" map finished in Langdale and not realising this until we had reached the valley floor meant a climb all the way back up of 2000ft or a blind walk back to Grasmere.
To cut a long story short, we arrived back at the car at 8pm, it was nearly dark and our Mazda looked quite forlorn sitting in the layby all alone.
